Final Project - Modern Art Museum
Jun 2010

The project is based in three different and strong ideas:
1.-Conditions and adaptation
Because of the shape of the plot, the museum had to be like an L, being very narrow where its wings got joined. That´s why it was decided to decompose this L into a proper L, that conected both squares and two left raws in each side where all the staircases would take place.
This dispossition made that each floor was diveded conceptualy into two different areas: the landing part that even though it belongs to the room it is undestood as a single space that guides you to another space where all the visual relations are taken.
2. The paths of art
The museum was thought to have a continuous path all along its floor which means that all the rooms apart from being visually conected were meant to be walked in a continuous way going through all of them.
The route starts going downstairs along a wide stair followed by an opened air path that allows the citizen to go from one side to the other freely, being understood as a covered public street where it is also located the cafe. The main entrance to the museum is next to the book shop and just behind the counter the art expirience starts.Taking the stair in the E-W wing the visitor can go upstairs through all of its rooms non-stop and without passing twice the same one, until the thrird floor when should start do dowstairs visiting the S-N wing.
